After years of thinking about it, this month I finally launched my own consulting business. I couldn’t be more excited. And I am thrilled to tell you about my first three clients.
My first client is the Natural History Museum of Utah. Research Quest is NHMU’s premier, digitally-delivered education program used in more than 200 classrooms, offering engaging and powerful series of science investigations that improve students’ critical thinking skills. I will be providing analysis and key insights to the Museum to help them identify strategic opportunities for increasing the engagement and reach of the project.
My second client is the Jewish Education Project. The Jewish Education Project empowers Jewish educators to help their students and families thrive. I will be working with them this fall to help them answer the question: “What is the future of digital learning beyond this pandemic?”
My third client is the Oakland-based Spanish Speaking Citizens’ Foundation. I am supporting them to launch a new games-based learning program to engage area youth who are home during the pandemic. “The results were fantastic,” Executive Director Alicia Contreras told me, after applying what she learned from our first session. “The kids were so engaged and participation raised 300%.”
When you look at this initial body of work, what do you see? I see: Online learning. Games-based learning. Museums. After school programming. Disruptive change. Informal learning. Digital Strategy. Data-based decision making.
What I see is the future. And I see Barry Joseph Consulting helping organizations navigate the opportunities it brings and ensure their benefits are more equitably distributed.
Below is the language I am working on to describe my areas of expertise, the work I want to focus on, and whom I am looking to work with:
